16+/- acres, Brick/Stone Victorian Home, Oil and Gas Rights, Buildings & Barns
This property consists of a home that was built in 1838 by Jacob & Isabal Ulery. It served as a tavern, post office, and hotel known as the “Pines” for people traveling by stage coach. It was later a tearoom for weddings in the early 1900’s. The front porch slab is one piece of stone brought in by oxen. The door locks throughout the house are original. The kitchen fireplace, complete with the original crane, was used for cooking. A fireplace of the same size is in the summer kitchen. Other than the master bedroom, all rooms have fireplaces and mantels (not functional). The main stairway continues to third floor attic. The woodwork is original to the house with built-in floor-to-ceiling cabinets alongside the fireplaces in the kitchen and 1st sitting room. There is a flagstone floor in basement.
The home has been kept to its truest form and has been cared for by the Birch family since the 1970’s. As you enter the front of the home, you will notice the hand cut stone foundation and beautiful red brick craftsmanship, On the main floor of the home is a large open family room with an ornate fireplace. The dining room has a built-in wall cabinet with fireplace. In the kitchen, you will notice the original open fireplace with the original mantle and a servant’s stairway to the second floor. Next to the kitchen is a roomy storage area with outside entrance. Also located next to the kitchen is a full bathroom with laundry hookups and a “mudroom” area from the rear porch.
The second floor has two large bedrooms and a master bedroom that hosts a “hidden room/servant’s bedroom” area behind a closet area. There is a full bathroom. All rooms on this floor are very large and host views of all points of this large property. Located in the basement is the boiler system, electrical service, and water service area.
Located on this property is the original cut stone/wood framed springhouse with pitcher/well pump and the purdy that complimented this original homestead. Also, there is a 20’x24’ 2-car garage, a 30’x40’ building with concrete floor and electricity, a 20’x30’ 2-story livestock barn with large storage room, a 14’x30’ equipment building, and an older wood post & beam frame barn.
Some aspects that make this property very desirable include a quiet country setting bordering Ten Mile Creek, new steel roof, updated windows, and available city water. There is also a rental mobile home located on this property that could possibly be an income producing property.
In addition to the real estate auction, we will offer 16+/- acres of oil and gas rights to the property.
They will be offered separately and with the property, whichever will generate a more favorable outcome for the estate.
